Good point - spreads are also effective against a single target - gives them fewer options for evasion or counter measures.

Depends on the number and type of arrays - I think the Galaxies and Sovereigns can fire on multiples targets with their numerous arrays and targeting system. It does spread out your firepower, though, vice concentrating on 1 target at a time.

I was trying to remember if the D could fire multiple, but I was thinking it always did the charge up and fire of a single beam.


Looks like TOS allowed for multiple shots


But yeah, phasers are all about pin point accuracy

I'm sure if we found images from Wolf 359 we'd see dual shots, or anything from the Dominion war, but the Defiant doesn't count
