I've got the Play 3 and the Sound bar. Very easy to sync but you need the Bridge. They sound great.
ETA: you need the Bridge hooked to your wireless router so that your phone can tell your speakers what to do.
ETA2: one bad thing about the Play 3 is it doesn't have a pin jack for direct connection to a phone or Ipod player.

I was told I wouldn't need this because I have a combo wireless modem/router.
Not true?
