We are still in episodes 1-3. I am no brain surgeon but I know that specific parts of the brain do different things. To be able to extract specific memories however seems like a complete stretch.

It has been followed pretty significantly in this thread. I for one really thought the observer in episode 3 was poorly placed. If September is suppose to observe important events, why was he in the train where nothing happened?

There were reports this week of erases and then reviving specific memories in rats LINK

As for how removing part of the brain can change behavior,
