For a wedding party or just a basic party?
$2,000 can go very quickly for 100 or so people.
Try and rent out the courtyard at Cafe Amelie.

Post rehearsal dinner cocktail reception. Very casual. I don't feel obligated to have an open bar for very long but I'm sure a cash bar would hit any reasonable minimum requirement.

I hate to burst your bubble, but no bar in the Quarter is going to do a private party at $10 bucks a head. At least not shutting down the place and making it a true private party.
Well no shite. And that's the central question: how does one rent a place and have a cash bar? Do they tally their receipts at the end of the night and say "we sold X, so you owe us the difference" or "we hit the minimum so it's all good on our end"? I'm fine agreeing to a higher minimum with the confidence that the guests (is that the wrong term when they're paying for themselves?) will spend enough.
