Well, for those that loved Medal Count in the Derby can now throw more money at him as he is apparently going in the Belmont.
Another interesting tidbit. This year's 3 year olds are members of the smallest foal crop since 1975- around 25K. Biggest foal crop was 1986- 51K.

Simon Bray (TVG) puts Chrome's chances if winning at 95%. He says tactics is the biggest threat. I want to hear from Jeff Seigal, after hitting the tri with him in the Preakness I am sinking or swimming with Jeff.

I absolutely detest the name Tonalist so they sort of shades my opinion of him TBH. Moreso he is a big horse with problematic feet- that is never a grand combo.
He also had an easy lead on a sloppy track in the Peter Pan. Most good horses look great in that situation.
I just saw something today that I don't think I have ever seen on the track-- and granted it isn't like I am out there every morning- but after Chrome finished his gallop and was winding down the trot, DelGado completely dropped the reins and was patting Chrome about the upper neck with both hands. He must really trust in the easy nature of Chrome because that is a helluva gamble on a pretty valuable piece of horseflesh. Of course, Chrome didn't even look at the water trucks revving up beside him at that moment.
I am not sure about the crazy new shooters that might be entered, but it should be noted that there isn't really any other horse in the race that has quite the top cruising speed of Chrome early on. Samraat is also a stalker, and I like him. Will be interesting to see if Tonalist goes to the front, but should Chrome break fine, I could easily see him cruising along at the front , and it will definitely take someone biting the bullet of their own chances to go challenge him.

I've been mia a lot this week due to 2 horse shows back to back with crappy service.
Did see this morning the chrome and curlin were both quite full of themselves galloping and curve went over 2 miles with a much stronger 2nd mile.

There were some runners on the track this morning at Belmont!
Tonalist worked in company with a work mate, went well 59 and change for 5, but was apparently a bit outworked by his stablemate, who I had liked in a race on Pimlico day- Life in Shambles, going in Easy Goer next Saturday.
California Chrome apparently was given an official 5f work in 59 and change without being asked. He galloped out in 112, 126 and change, and 140 for the mile being pulled up. Visually, at least the DRF clockers were pretty impressed.
Social Inclusion sizzled a half in 45, galloped out in 57, 110, and 124. There is no doubt he is a fast sucker, but he has fallen apart before the start of his past two races, and have backed up in both his route races.
He and Tonalist are pretty lightly raced. I somehow think they are both going to be looking for moving sidewalk at the top of the stretch.
No one knows if Chrome will get the mile and a half, but I bet the other trainers, after that work seemingly proves he is still going strong, are really hoping he can't.
Just hope they all come out of the woks in good shape.
Ride on Curlin still galloping strong.
Medal Count works 6f in 110+ and out in 124 at CD.
and now General A Rod is apparently a go for the Belmont as well. worked 5f in 100+ this morning at CD.

SI maybe headed to the Stephen Foster. After CC work I really believe the only thing that can beat him is bad tactics by other riders or if Victor moves to early. Seems like other then Big Brown jockey error is blamed for last few Triple Crown failures.

“Mike’s around the horse every day. He feels like he’s doing well and we should run in the Belmont,” Wolf said.
Wolf said he thought General a Rod “could have been second” in the Preakness with a better trip, “and possibly competed with the winner.”
“He made a hell of a run to do what he did,” Wolf said.
General a Rod is scheduled to fly to New York on Thursday on a flight that also includes Belmont runner Medal Count, who is trained by Dale Romans.

I wish the connections of Social Inclusion would help out their colt just a bit more. Send him in the Woody Stephens or even the Easy Goer. Get his mind right again, and then work back up to the Grade 1 routes. Regardless of what happens on next Saturday, Chrome is likely headed back to Del Mar rather than Saratoga so the Travers could very well be there for the taking.

I read his work was only 3/8ths and went in 33 and change and galloped out to those other numbers but I did see the 3/4 gallop out was 109 and change.

It was bad. His mate came from behind, was walking by him and they had to pull him so Tonalist could hit the line first. Not a good thing if you ask me.
Side note, I was in Louisville for the NCAA Baseball and ate a little lunch over at Wagner's Pharmacy. Good stuff right there.

Wicked Strong worked well this morning. He also had a duo working about 30-40 yards in front of him so he had a target.
Commissioner and Matterhorn went decently in tandem.
Commanding Curve went in company, and looked ok, but it seemed to me that his workmate was being kept in a strong hold to keep them together.
