Sounds to me like the reason is tactical in nature and didn't want players giving that reason to the press or the other competing nations.
Info coming out of this camp has been tight, wouldn't be shocked if some misinformation was being leaked too.

Then all you say is you didn't fit into our plans tactically. It's not like Goodson is going to tell everyone Jurgen's secrets for the World Cup. He's not an a-hole; he just wanted an explanation.
