Does her insurance have an annual max out of pocket per year? I have infusions every 8 weeks that cost $11k. My max out of pocket is around $3k a year. Once I pay that amount I am covered for the rest of the year.

Im not sure but I will look into it.

Definitely check it out. I hit my max out of pocket every January. I have extra taken out of my taxes throughout the year and use it to pay it off.

Side note: I just spent the last two months recovering from abdominal surgery with all kinds of complications. The total bill is around $300k. My portion owed….$0.00

I am terribly sorry to read this.

I wish her the best possible outcome and you (and your family) strength and peace.

I lost my mom a few years ago. I suggest that you look for a 'Cancer Society' in your area. We got unbelievable support and help from the one in our city. They were amazing and knew all of these kinds of answers.

Sorry to hear about your mom.
As several folks have said, there are supposed to be limits on OOP costs. Should not be continual outlays after the max.
Is she Medicare?

The facility she's receiving treatment from should be able to professionally advise you on costs and coverages. I'd talk with them initially, then contact her insurance reps.

Note the name, position, and discussion date/time/content of every insurance rep you talk with. Verify what they've told you with your mom's hospital/doctor.

If necessary, contact your political representative(s).
