Couple more and you'll have enough for a squirrel skin hat. For real though, what do you do with the hides?

Also,

quote:

I've been eating squirrel for many a moon, and I have to admit that I've never heard of anything to do with glands on a squirrel.

We always targeted cat squirrels and stayed away from the foxes just because they were tougher. I've never heard about a gland that should be removed.

A squirrel is a squirrel is a squirrel. Cut 'em up and cook 'em down. I'm not going to pass on a plump juicey fox squirrel.

I think he could make hats for an entire hillbilly baseball team.

He has more than a dozen others in the picking/tanning pipeline, as well as yet a dozen more hides in the freezer awaiting their turn in cue for processing. There's no telling how many dozen he's already given away.

He gives pelts to his siblings and peers as gifts. At that age, it's a super-neat gift that kids covet.

Aside from gifts, frankly I'm at a loss for what to do with them. He just loves the tanning process, and has gotten damn good at it.
