Man falls to his death on Mt. Hood

An inexperienced climber died on Oregon's tallest peak. Very unfortunate it is, prayers to his family. I read in another story that it's believed he got near the edge to look down and fell through a cornice.
We have very warm temps currently in the area which makes it very unsafe up there after a certain time. Even when it is colder you typically want to be off the summit by 9 am.

The last "climber" to die there was a polish military serviceman who attempted the mountain in the summertime when no one does it. He was on his day off from training and was told not to do so by hikers in the area. He didn't take their advice and was killed from rock fall near the summit.

I have no desire to climb rocks, but to each his own.

Rock fall and ice fall. Mt. Hood is a piece of shite mountain like all the others we have here. You don't realize it because most pics are of the mountain covered in snow so it just looks pretty. As it warms up rock/ice fall and it is a real hazard. This guy got near the edge and the snow collapsed from underneath him.

Guess that's why they made me carry that heavy azz rope we used in the upper regions of Rainier. Climbing alone unless you're a guide or very experienced is unadvisable. My days of altitude are over for sure.
RIP

The guy that died last august was from rock fall. The snow and ice hold all of it together. During the summer there is constant rock fall up there.

yeah, not smart. My buddy summited Hood by himself the first time and I gave him shite for doing so. He was around other people as it was a busy night, but still. I still haven't summited it. Trying May 30th, hopefully it goes well.

Hell no, three man team. Thanks! Gonna camp around 8500 feet and get an early start if the weather is permissible.

I was on Mt Hood the summer the Blackhawk crashed there, I missed the crash by one day. It was still there, all mangled.
