Well, the daughter/gf also cries and acts overly dramatic and doesn't appear to have any of those stressors.
Plus from what I recall from the OP she didn't act like her mother's behavior was that crazy almost like she didn't even notice.
There may be other indicators for the OP to look at to help decide. Does she have other normal-seeming relationships, eg, other relatives, friends? Does she handle anxiety or stress in a reasonable way?
GF could be okay or she could be a ticking time bomb set to explode after you're bound by ring and kids.
