Political Board obsession with homosexuals continues.

Sam claims he wants to be known as a football player and I believe America is ready to grant him that, but, last night's display when he got drafted says otherwise. It was only about his homosexuality. So, whether he's complicit in it or just the unintended victim of his allies' enthusiasm, I suspect he will merely be known as a homosexual and, sadly, nothing else.

Kissing his boyfriend means he doesn't want to be known just as a football player? Should he have re-closeted himself for the cameras?

Like so many things in sports, it will just blow over. Media will hype it, and then everyone will remember that sports is sports and teammates have your back.

I mean, Jason Collins' story just went by just like that.

Part of me feels bad for the kid because I really think all he wants to be is a football player. Unfortunately, he has been turned "pioneer" and what this generation so desperately wants to be its Jackie Robinson. Now don't get me wrong, he has to be complicit in some degree. Otherwise we wouldn't have cameras set up to capture a kiss with his boyfriend and cake party.

The media so desperately want to force people to not just accept, but find men kissing one another and other outward displays of affection "heartwarming." Yesterday's coverage was just a big display of stereotypes for a group of people who say they just want to be treated "equal." The best thing for him to do in order to gain greater acceptance of his lifestyle would have been for him to just to say "I'm gay", leave it at that, then go out and show everybody that he his a great football player. That would get more anti-gay people to accept the lifestyle than to "force" them to accept the stereotypes by making a big deal out of it.

FWIW, I don't care that he's gay. But if I was an NFL GM I would have been hesitant to pick him. With him brings in a whole lot of unwanted media attention from people who otherwise couldn't care less about football. Now the coach, GM, etc. have a burden to prove that any and all negative personnel decisions against him aren't related to his sexual orientation in any way.

If Sam's goal was to be viewed as nothing more than a football player who happens to be gay, he single-handedly set his objective back with his actions.
