Got roped in to taking a carnival cruise for most of my paid time off

It's not the most luxurious thing in the world that's for sure. You can still have a lot of fun though, unless you're too busy worrying about everyone else.

They're fun. Trash level largely depends on what port it leaves out of, where its going, and newness of ship.

You can have a good time if you lower your expectations (actually yours are pretty god damn low already) , and drink and gamble a lot.

If you are going on one of the cheesy arse 4 or 5 night cruises leaving from Mobile, N.O., or Galveston, then you will be visiting shitty ports and be mostly with trash.
If you go on a 7 night cruise out of south Florida, chances are much better than it will be ok.

I went with a group of 16, and we found that it was a great place to hang out with people we already loved to hang out with. It's probably the most fun I've ever had in my life. But we ran the boat. I think everyone wanted to kill us by the end. Most of the people on the boat were fun to laugh at, but we didn't hang out with them. You will see the trashiest tattoos you've ever seen. If you don't have a tattoo, prepare to be in the minority.

It's what you make it. I have been on 4 cruises, going on the 5th next moneth. I love them. You just have to be prepared to loosen up a lil bit. Try to sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself. Allow yourself to have a good time. After all you will never see 99% of the people ever again in your lifetime.

For comparison, its like ramping up to go to Disneyworld, but then staying at the low budget All Sports Hotel.
