I want to do something special this year because she's been really strong during a tough time for our family the last few months. So I dont want to just get her a card. But I cant spend more than $20-25 right now. Any suggestions?

Pro Flowers, Flowers.com.

All women love flowers, especially mothers. Send some and you're gold.

rose bush or tree - something that won't die in a few months
My wife bought me a live oak for my first Father's Day.
I see it every time I pull out of the driveway.
It's cool to see how much it and the kids have grown.

Get a friend who is a competent photographer to take a picture of you and your mom, put it in a nice inexpensive frame.

She'll love it.

Write a letter just thanking her for everything, and tell her you love her. 10.00 but priceless to her

The Card is the most important part.Doesn't have to be an expensive card.

Something funny.Short.

Write
"I Love you Mom" or something similar.

Got to be a card.

Go to Walmart,or whatever, and get a plant. One that's got some mixed stuff in it.Some different colors.

It'll live all Summer and remind her that you gave it to her.

You're welcome.

The art students used to have sales for Christmas, Mother's day, etc. You could pick up a nice clay pot or something like that for $5-$10. Check around and see if they still do it.
