eah, I got to agree with you LUNCHBOX, I've been around motorcycles my whole life and I've never heard anyone call a Goldwing a crotch rocket.

You've apparently never experienced yellow wolf screwing around at the gap.

Just because you can ride a bike fast at the gap doesn't make the bike something it isn't.

I've seen vids of guys riding Harleys fast at Mulholland, should I start calling them crotch rockets as well?

Go somewhere like Deals Gap and talk with the sportbike riders up there about how you got passed by a crotch rocket and see how they respond.

Well if they get insulted by the term, oh well. I ride an R6, I'll call it what it is if I want to.

And if they don't know what types of bike crotch rocket refers to, then I'll assume they aren't all that knowledgeable.

I wasn't saying it was a crotch rocket, I have already said the term has 0 meaning to me.

I was just responding to your comment about how you have never anyone call it that, I have heard someone call it that because of that specific rider.

Anyone calling a Goldwing a crotch rocket I will assume is not knowledgeable with the meaning of the term. That doesn't broaden the term's definition.

Then what's the point of telling me to say that to them and see what they say?

Well, we had someone say they would consider the FZ1 a crotch rocket in this thread. What if someone caught a quick glimpse of a K1600 passing them fairly quickly, is it ok to call it a crotch rocket as well? It's a generic term people use when they don't know what to call a fast bike.

It was me, and an FZ1 is much close to a crotch rocket than a GW. You called the FZ1 a tourer, and that's basically wrong.

So your whole argument comes down to someone not really seeing what they are looking at? Seriously?

I'd hope the hard-bags would tell them differently. Course if it's going by fast and they only get a glimpse, it can be understood if they mistakenly think they've seen a crotch rocket. I mean if you just get a quick glance at a cruiser going by you might mistake it for a touring bike.

No it's a generic term to call sport bikes. It's not meant to insult them. It's like I've said, it's just a nickname given to them because they are made for speed.

At this point I just assume Dam Guide is not knowledgeable with any terms for anything he claims association with. I mean any real BMW enthusiast knows its "Bimmer," but whateves.

It's used in that capacity quite frequently and is a great sport tourer. It's in that border category of not quite either. So I can see people calling it both.

That's exactly my point. A knowledgeable rider getting a quick glimpse vs someone who isn't would get you much much different answers.

Dude you've repeatedly called me "poser" and said I was totally ignorant of the motorcycle world all over this one term "crotch rocket". This despite the fact I've been riding motorcycles longer than you've been alive.

You just don't like actual definitions. You're like the ding dong on the food board that made up his own definition for the word decent and then got mad when I called him on it. Just because someone incorrectly identifies (insert blank 1) as (insert blank 2) does not automatically make (blank 1) a member of (blank 2).

Depends on how quick the glimpse is.

Yep, I could even forgive Beamer if he could save it and say that he meant BMW motorcycles. But "Beemer", Come on man.
