Doug Sonnier has a guide service for a living. Why anyone would think a guide, who has to try and put people on ducks daily, would give up a decent blind is beyond me.

In general I'd figure that's true but actually have heard from a guide there that there's a few properties he really wished Doug did not lease out.

Last year was absolute garbage for me in SE La marshes but years leading up to it were pretty damn strong so I'm hoping for an on-time hatch this year and a return to what was just one year removed. The January surveys showed that the birds did show up in La just really late. Also, I'd be far more willing to lease a marsh blind than rice for the reasons so many have pointed out.....watching high snows all day and being surprised by the occasional spoonie just isn't worth the astronomical money. Here's hoping for birds showing up when the time comes!

One of his former guides told me the same thing. One thing is he has so many properties and some of them are further than a lot of the guides want to go. They'd rather hunt their marsh blinds.
