And if dell pulls it off?
If Dell pulls it off, without:
1. Taking on an equally dumbass contract of a middle of the road player,
2. Without having to add starting type players to sweeten the pot, or
3. Without throwing in draft choices,
I'd say he did a great job of correcting a major error on his part.
I pray he can get Gordon out of here without major damage. It's not going to happen this year; it might happen next year with his expiring contract. Even if Gordon has the same numbers he had this season, I think the Suns will take him next year because they'll only have to commit to a 1 year "look and see".

Well he's going to have to do one of those things most likely. That's reality.

I still don't think you can call it an error on his part unless he outright ignored the medical staff, which doesn't seem to be the case. Gordon really kind of set him up for failure when he signed the Phoenix offer. Had he played the hand differently and informed Demps that he was going to sign it, Dell could have explored a sign-and-trade with the Suns.
That's the part that makes me think the "heart is in Phoenix" stuff was overplayed. If he really wanted to play there, his agent certainly would have told him that doing what I said above was the best way to make it happen. Frankly, I think he just said that as his public justification for signing the deal, when in reality he signed it to get more money. Some people don't like to seem like money-grubbers.
