We dropped the lower unit to un kink the speedometer hose and when we put the lower unit back a small bit of oil leaked out. Any idea what might have caused that?

Sounds like the seals are bad in your unit. That is just a drain hole for any standing water left on top of the lower unit when you pull the boat out of the water.

Might need a rebuild

It's a weep hole for the driveshaft oil seal.... I'm pretty sure, it's been a while since I fooled with the Yami lowers though. If you layed the lower in it's side this could be the reason it weeped a little LU oil. I would keep and eye in your LU oil quality and level for a while just to be sure.
