So if a "fetus" isn't a baby until it is seperated from the host completely, would you be comfortable with a baby being delivered and before they cut the cord, a doctor pulls a pistol and blows it's brains all over the floor?

It's still "connected" to the host.

In Louisiana, there are 2 types of persons. Juridical persons which are entities like corporations and natural persons.

Natural personality commences from the moment of live birth. A human being that is born dead is considered never to have existed as a person.

Obviously this doesn't cover abortion cases, but it does provide some law on the subject.

I'm not 100% on either side. I do find it somewhat hypocritical, however, that so many people who are pro-life and say every life is precious are also pro-death penalty.

Also, a great number of abortions occur in low income situations. If the abortion didn't happen, that child would likely be living in poverty. Yet, many who are pro-life are also staunchly opposed to many welfare programs, considering them government handouts to lazy people who don't want to work. What about that child's well being?
