They play Savannah State on senior day this season... so I would say yes they are having a hard time scheduling.

not much different than the typical SEC homecoming being played against hot garbage like Towson or Western Carolina.

Senior day (or HC) against a weak opponent is normal b/c it allows the HC to ensure all seniors can play.

Utah won't play them anymore

thats flat out false.

Utah and BYU have games set up for '16, '17, and '18.

IMO of the SEC does a deal with BYU it's purely b/c ESPN controls BYU's home games and will want to make BYU games more valuable for TV.

I don't know about A&M but our senior day is always the last home game of the year which is almost always going to be against another SEC team.

This is really BYU's dilemma. ESPN I don't think gives a shite if they play higher quality competition because it's not really why they signed them up. Right now, they use the BYU contract to fill in Thu/Fri games. It works.

And I don't think an SEC school would agree to a fricking Friday night game, meaning ESPN would cram the BYU home games into an already jammed Saturday slate. And while in theory that's okay, it really isn't. No one watches BYU games. That's the struggle of being without a conference. Your games don't effect anyone else in any way.

Last year they played Texas on ESPN2 and it got a 1.0 rating. WVU-OU in the same time slot got a 1.9. But that was a conference game that mattered to other people. The only other Sat game BYU had that ESPN aired (ESPN2), Utah-BYU, only drew a 0.9. I'm not saying ESPN would be against it, but I just don't think they have any compelling reason to push it. It doesn't move the needle on Saturday and they'd have to find other Thu/Fri content.
