Could be IT band.
First, go get a massage, toughen up, bare the pain and tell them you need IT band work. It's going to hurt and it will suck, and it will help.
Go to you tube and look up IT band stretches. Also, strengthening your core and hip flexors/stabilizers/ etc will take some of the pressure off the IT bands.
Google IT band / hip stretches, then IT band / hip exercises.
If it is IT band, usually it gets better with time, stretching and strength.
And lastly, buy a foam roller and roll after every run and try to for a couple of minutes every day. Even if just a few passes directly on the IT band and upper legs.
