worked at WDW 20 years ago. Disney College Program. made $5.60/hour. Thought it was good money. But, I knew I wasn't going to make a career out of it. I was 1.5 years from graduating LSU. I could've stayed cause they wanted me to work fulltime, but I couldn't have lived on that salary. Now, if I was retired and lived in Orlando area and needed a job, that would be a great job to have.

Yeah, this is basically my understanding of the vast majority of Disney employment.

My only question is, I would assume had you stayed there is some sort of management track type system, whereby if you wanted it to be more than just a resume padder/paid internship type deal, you would actually start to make at least decent money, no?

My first thought when reading the article .. I go to Disney once every year or so and the vast majority of workers that you see are either college aged or older retired age.. The ones that usually work it as a career are in the restaurants where you can make some good money.

I can only guess that the article is saying because of Disney the housing is more expensive but these people can't work at Disney because it's not enough.. Stupid logic leap for me but a good one for those with an agenda.
