The point is if you don't like how the governments money is being spent, elect better leaders. Apparently SG has done a poor job of electing metro councilmen to represent their interests.

St. George would prefer to incorporate and not have to fight the battle of having the Baton Rouge budget supplemented with parish funds. I really can't blame them.

See above. Even if true, that makes no difference.

So we can't ever incorporate because we have representatives on the metro council?
So BR should unincorporate? Central? Baker ? Zachary?
Your argument makes no sense.
SG represents about a quarter of the parish 's population. The city about a half. I wouldn't expect our councilmen to get their way. We are outnumbered.
But the constitution of the state provides a method for citizens to incorporate. It doesn't say we can incorporate if our council members protest the budget. It doesn't say we can't incorporate if we are in a consolidated govt . It says we can petition to invorporate and if the petition receives the minimum support a vote is to be taken by the voters inside the proposed incorporated area and the majority rules.
Now we see moratoriums, new election rules and attempts to annex key areas of SG.
What does the parish budget have to do with the will of the citizenry in SG? Nothing.
