Judging by the validity of your posts, you must be the captain of the tennis team.

In response to the Aggie, A&M does have indoor courts which are available for them to practice at. In response to the gymnastics teams having poor facilities, do their poor facilities ever keep them from actual practice? Trust me, I have seen it first hand, we will never get an elite american recruit until we get the facility

Russian tennis prodigies don't come to train in America for the facilities they come for the coaching and the program.

Are we really talking about something besides football and baseball?

No. They have the bare minimum facility and they are #3 in the whole country.

Coaches attract recruits. Nick Sabin or Les Miles could leave their respective schools and go anywhere in this country and have success where ever they go, irregardless of facilities. All they need is a weight room and a field.

As an LSU fan I like to see all the teams do well, so to hear our tennis is so bad sucks. But, I honestly couldn't tell you the name of one person that ever played tennis at LSU without googling it.

The beauty of social media is that maybe that will change. Not because we like tennis but because we are Tiger Fans.

The SEC Network will give the smaller sports more exposure and likely, just likely, help build a fan base and interest in other sports.

Dont let the facts get in your way, Gym got ALL NEW practice facilites that were state of the art in 1997, they are now old and outdated, but the same coach has been there 38 years and the 38th year was by all accounts (hers as well) her best ever and we finsihsed 3rd in our own damn conf and yes 3rd in overall, which is a very good finish, BUT there are 42 teams in D1 overall, in conf of 7 teams (now m8 used to be 6!)we finished in BOTTOM half of SEC 11 of past 15 years and not won conf since 1981 (first year it existed) it aint about the facilties for gym, not over 38 years, we have a medicore coach...who is likely the most disliked person in the entire AD by those who work there and has lost 75% of her meets to bama, uf and uga, over 38 years! blame the facilites all you want...facts are facts

As stated earlier - indoor facility on the way. I spoke to Jeff Brown (men's coach) a few months back and I believe he said we were the only SEC school NOT to have an indoor facility and he just couldn't compete for recruits w/ that negative. Also, his team is pretty young this year and should be pretty solid next year w/ a few decent recruits coming in (again, the promise of the new indoor facility helping already).

Women's team is usually middle of the road, but again - recruiting hurt by facilities. Should improve as well, but don't even know who new coach is for the gals.

Facilities certainly a big factor, but women having NEVER won an SEC title and Men once is IMHO not acceptable overall. I have long said if we have a sport we should be competitive in our conf, period, NEVER winning it is not good enough for any sport at any school, especially over such a long period of time. Clearly, I think with the new tennis facilties we will be much better, but does not explain

SEC Mens tennis, 78 years, LSU won ONE title
SEC Women's tennis 77 years, LSU won ZERO titles
155 chances in just our own conf and only one title....plain bad

actually Men's Tennis has shared or won 4 titles in Reg Season, still not great for 78 years..but agree facilties will help and we should expect more and sure coaches etc will be held accountable more...

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Maybe the SEC Network will finally put the spotlight on LSU's failing sports and make a real change for the better.

Pretty strong words. Might be a great thread. Who is the most disliked LSU Athletic Coach? And, why?

Could get interesting.

They're addressing that issue already...

quote:

ABOUT THE GYMNASTICS PRACTICE FACILITY

The future home of the LSU Gymnastics team will be a state-of-the-art training and practice facility.

Plans for the new facility call for the following:

Team Locker Room
Training Room
Beam Practice Area
Vaulting Strips with pits
Bar Training area with pits
Floor Exercise and Dance studio
Trampoline Area
Team Squad Room

The final project funded by TAF is a gymnastics facility currently in design. At $8.5 million, the 72,000 square foot structure will be used for practice, David said. Gymnastics meets will continue to be held in the PMAC.

David said construction on the gymnastics facility should begin by August north of the PMAC Practice Facility and east of Carl Maddox Field House.

I have never attended a competitive college tennis match. Anyone who has, how's the experience?
