I grew up the oldest of 4 and pretty poor.
I def noticed a HUGE difference in how we lived when it was just my brother and I and then when my little brother and sister came along(my sister wasn't planned btw).
It's one of the reasons why I don't want a bunch of kids. I want to be able to afford to give my child the things I didn't get to experience as a child and not struggle to give them the things they need.

This can also be true. My dad grew up in a small house with 4 siblings and not a lot of money, but they all became pretty successful later in life. But no one has more than 2 kids, if any.
