re: I'm considering getting into hockey, help me pick a team

I'm absolutely rooting for the Blues this postseason. I want something good for them to happen, and their team is ridiculously likeable. But I don't want you going in without reading all of the warnings. Here's a rough list of the most cursed franchises in the NHL:

Whalers*
Blues
Caps
Canucks
Sabres
Islanders (well, since Mike Bossy retired)
Maple Leafs
Sharks

*gone, but not forgotten

Things just happen to these teams. This is also a pretty rough list of some of my favorite NHL teams. I love the angry, doomed fanbases. Fandom is supposed to be hard.

The Jackets and Wild are on the cursed waiting list. Just too recent to be truly doomed.
