Saw a pair today by the camp in Grand Isle. I'll send pics tomorrow if they're still here. Anyone else ever see them?

Saw one in Lake Charles years ago. Very distinctive coloration.

You sure it wasn't a pair of Vermillion Flycatchers?

Sure, we had 2 males in our back yard last week. Gorgeous birds. We're nearly at peak migration so you should be seeing some good birds down at Grand Isle now. It's a great spot since it's the first land they see after crossing the Gulf of Mexice so they drop down for some rest, food, and water.

I'm taking off later this week to bird the Florida coast from Tampa down to Key West. Can't wait.

Coastal Louisiana fishing is what got me interested in birding in the first place.

Summer Tanagers are very common here once you leave the bottom land. I see them every time I camp at Indian Creek and almost every summer round of disc golf at Buhlow. I have never seen a Scarlet.
