re: Kayaking/Camping anyone have any great spots

I would definitely recommend going down the Paint Rock River in Jackson County, Alabama. It runs right by the Walls of Jericho, which are truly magnificent and awe-inspiring. Getting the kayaks up there is a little difficult (not a solo job, by any means), but worth the effort.

If you are willing to travel a bit further east, there are numerous opportunities for camping/kayaking in the various Appalachian chains, but it may be a bit far for you.
