We'd be going in mid June and leaving from monroe. So anything within 5-8 hours would be nice

Are you looking for something nice and flat near the coast, or something a bit more mountainous?

Sorry for the many questions, just trying to think of the best fit for you. Personally, I like kayaking in the mountains more than the coast, but that's not for everybody.

Beautiful bayou Desiard is in your backyard there is Monroe and you wouldn't have to travel. You can camp out on the beach by the infirmary.
