why the hell would anyone do that?

The Ivy league schools are true bastions of liberalism. When she got her test scores back, we talked about it and she said she liked Rhodes and Berry, possibly Vanderbilt.

Now she's asking questions about Princeton. At least its the most conservative of the Ivies.

Mom is freaking out at the thought of having baby girl that far away. But its a great opportunity. She's a junior, so she hasn't been accepted, but is being invited to apply based on her grades and test scores.

This would be a very solid choice, but Vandy is not nearly as generous with aid as the Ivy League schools, so you could end up with a monster bill.

My cousin had a 4.0+, 34 ACT, and numerous extracurriculars....but because the family is wealthy, he has to pay the entirety of the cost of attendance. I think it is close to 60,000 a year.

I say infiltrate the liberal bubble and be a conservative classroom gadfly. That would be a great learning experience.

I would have thought that would be Dartmouth given New Hampshire still sends republicans to Washington.

Oh for frick's sake. Your kid can get into an Ivy league school and you are worried about politics?

By all means talk her out of the chance for her to be set for life.

Only if she takes humanities, arts, english, etc...

If she's in a science program there's not much exposure to said nonsense. I wouldn't worry about it.

math/science - princeton
law/premed - Harvard

And well overrated for the education they actually provide. But, the name recognition carries a ton of weight, so there is that....

Chances to go Ivy league don't come around often.

Wish her well

Yes - you should deny your daughter a shot at a world class education - because you're afraid they'll read "Heather Has Two Mommies" to her.

That's fair.
