Yes, but that would be great if he wants her to take over a family business and he's sending her off to college to get a well-rounded education, find herself, and come back with more maturity and better critical thinking skills. If she's trying to have a career of her own (and not going to law school), she needs to stay away from those degrees and get something that will offer a solid return on investment. If you're not just going to college for the experience (not that there's anything wrong with this as long as one can afford it), college is an investment and must be viewed and treated as such.

Ivy League schools are liberal indoctrination centers. She will leave there feeling enlightened and thinking she is entitled to an opinion.
Put her on the right path....find a boy with a bright future, huge trust fund, lots of hunting land and tell her to marry him, have kids, and cook his dinner. Forget about school

This is what I wanted to hear. So, if she's in Biomedical Engineering, she won't have a ton of the progressive shite?
Some of her gen-ed classes would probably be very liberal, but for that particular major, I would not foresee the upper-level classes being anything but science-based, with little political indoctrination. I could be wrong, of course, but I would be very surprised to see it.

If you can afford to send your daughter to Princeton to study a real degree (not some BS liberal arts, but a degree that offers great career prospects like engineering, accounting, finance, or the pure sciences) I wouldn't hesitate.
I agree.
I would say if she gets in and its $7k a year, do it even if its BS degree. The value with the ivy league is not what you learn but who you meet. That network is super valuable, as many ivy leaguers are children of the business and political leaders in the US. This is especially true with harvard and princeton.

here's the rub
going to Princeton will only really be beneficial if she wants to go to an elite medical school. i mean like elite
otherwise, it's not worth the investment at all. you go to ivies for connections and prestige (for grad school)

At least its the most conservative of the Ivies
I would have thought that would be Dartmouth given New Hampshire still sends republicans to Washington.

Even if she does, who cares? She'd hear similar progressive shite at any college, even our beloved LSU.

Has she written her essay? I would suggest this..
"I spent all of my extra time during junior and senior years in HS reaching out to the less fortunate. My specialty was mentoring inner city girls who were forced into prostitution due to the harsh economic conditions created by the Republicans. I focused on the the 12 to 14 year old range. I tried to divert them into the classics by creating a Shakespeare repertory drama club in community centers that I raised funds for.
I just felt that I had to give something back to the community even though I am part Native American."
I guarantee you that if your daughter sends this in to Princeton she'll get a scholarship. I've seen it done IRL. But it was a guy. His name was Robert. He is now a doctor.

No, just no. Princeton is a republican (not to be confused with conservative) school.

The Ivy league schools are true bastions of liberalism. When she got her test scores back, we talked about it and she said she liked Rhodes and Berry, possibly Vanderbilt.
Oh for frick's sake. Your kid can get into an Ivy league school and you are worried about politics?
By all means talk her out of the chance for her to be set for life.

Aside from the fact that you would let this stand in the way of your daughter receiving an elite education, science and engineering professors don't care. Many of them weren't even born in the U.S.

I don't have a ton of experience in the matter. I was denied admission to Vandy in high school and ended up at Mississippi State and my wife was an average student at Ole Miss. We both were first in our families to go to college, so we were lucky to go.
We've always placed the value of education as high on our only child, and she has excelled. I want to give her the opportunities we never had. I just don't want her to become a progressive militant lesbian brainwashed by the liberal elites of the Northeast.
Had not even been talked about until last week. They basically have families pay 10% of AGI if you can get in, so its a really good deal.

not true
typically, those who are top of their class at lesser college do more with their life than middle-tier ivy students
where you graduate means more, on the whole

THIS! I can't believe the OP is even debating this in his head. Don't be scared that your kids may grow up to think differently than what you have indoctrinated them with their entire lives

Coming from anyone else I would think you are being sarcastic. Sadly, it's you and most likely you are serious.

You are fuxking dumb I you don't let her go to Princeton.
Posted on 4/21/14 at 3:54 pm to anc
If you would take an active hand in stopping her from getting a world class education that she is genuinely interested in on the chance that her mind will be brainwashed by liberals, your progeny doesn't deserve a place there. There is nothing so stultifying as the shackles a smart man will voluntarily wear.

Having an Ivy league degree opens doors for that first gig. Just like having a Stanford degree, or MIT or etc etc etc.
But of course, let's worry about her becoming a lesbian feminazi. That's what is important here.
