This couldn't be further from the truth, I live in the south but not in Louisiana, every single time I tell people I'm an LSU fan the other person laughs their arse off, tells me how much of a loser, douchbag bag les miles is.

That doesn't happen a few times, every time 100 percent.

Is that what a national icon is

I call bullshite on this ....I work and communicate with a bunch of people from around the southeast and at first I was very surprised that other teams fans (mostly sec) have so much respect for clm ....
I live in Bulldog, Gator, Bama, Auburn country and this is not true. First, other fans don't think Les is a 'douchebag', they think he's a goof. Yes, they like him, but no one is intimidated by him and there is no fear in the SEC of Miles or a Miles coached team. Fear and intimidation do not equal, "I like him he's a good guy". Mostly I can't tell whether other fans like Les because he's a good guy or because they feel like they always have a chance to win against Les no matter how bad their team is. LOL.

I live in Birmingham, I know very few Bama and Auburn fans who don't think that LSU will be one of their toughest games every year, and a game they look forward to because of this.

I'm a fan of Miles. Perhaps the thing that bothers me most is how "cool" it is to undervalue Miles. Our fans are probably the worst, often criticizing him for not doing more with the talent that HE brought to LSU in the first place.

However, the media often has their head up their arse as well. Athlon just ranked Miles the 17th best coach in the NCAA, behind:

Petrino
Cutcliffe
Richt
Peterson
Shaw
Franklin
Malzahn
Kelly
Dantonio
Fisher
Snyder
Briles
Stoops
Spurrier
Meyer
Saban

That is a fricking joke. He is no worse than 6th and as high as 3rd IMO.

There is no "fear" of any school or coach in the SEC. There is respect, but thinking there is fear of a school for another SEC school is silly. Certainly not among the likes of Auburn, Ga., Fla, Bama, or LSU.

Since LSU leads all SEC teams in wins during the last 9 yrs, their feeling has been wrong a lot more than it has been right.
