What cities are college graduates calling home?
Recently Forbes announced it “Top Brainpower Cities.” To determine where college graduates are settling, demographer Wendell Cox analyzed the change in the number of holders of bachelor’s degrees and above between 2007 and 2012 in the 51 metropolitan statistical areas with over a million people (all saw gains).
At the top of the list was New Orleans.
“Greater New Orleans being named the #1 “Brainpower City” in the U.S is proof positive that our competitive business climate, unique culture, low costs, and focused leadership are attracting the best and brightest,” said Michael Hecht, CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc. “Our region’s future for continuing to attract highly educated people looks bright with coming booms in energy, biosciences and digital media.”
