Seafood on the Geaux is the real deal, but it's in Katy.

I've been on a quest this entire season to find decent crawfish in Houston. And I'll go ahead an tell ya, it's few and far between.

Texans somehow took a time honored tradition and boiling method, made it more complicated, harder to eat, and no where near as good as the real thing. yet, they'll argue with you for days about their Uncle/Cousin/BrotherInLaw from Cajun Country Louisiana taught them this dusting recipe.

Anyhow, the places that I've found acceptable are:

- Pook's Crawfish Hole: It's in Sante Fe, TX. Between Houston and Galveston. 40 minute drive, but they are absolutely perfect and it's a cool little joint with great service and you can pull up an ice chest filled with beer or liquor. #6.99lb as of last week.

- That One Place: Yellowfin actually introduced me to this place. It's in Humble, TX. 20-30 minutes from Midtown/Downtown. It's a hole in the wall, but the crawfish are big and boiled right. No dust. They also have bitchin Hawaiian ice snowballs. They have specials where is you get 25lbs+ it's only $5.99 per lb.


Absolutely not acceptable:

- Rajun Cajun: Pretty much everything at Rajun Cajun is absolute shite, but people here in Houston rave about it. Idiocy. Crawfish are small and they hardly put anything in their boil. Bland. I'm pretty sure they get their crawfish from Rice, Texas not Louisiana like they claim.

- Big Woodrow's: This place claims they are the LSU and Saints bar in Houston. Yet, somehow still dust their crawfish and use a bland boil. And you couldn't pay me to eat anything else from there.


- LA Crawfish: this was my first crawfish of the season -_-. Mistakes were made. Heavily dusted, coated in the shite, small, bland, and likely were frozen. Certainly not live crawfish from Louisiana. And btw, who in the hell gave them the idea to create a culinary fusion of Asian food and Louisiana food? I guarantee no one in Louisiana signed off on that. You can get everything from Pho to Chicken Wings to shite crawfish. The "LA" in "LA" Crawfish must stand for Los Angeles, because it certainly isn't Louisiana. I ripped their new place on Richmond a new a-hole on Yelp. The owner emailed me cussing me out and then paid Yelp to remove my review. I just copied and pasted from a txt file and added it back. lol.

I've dropped by the HEB on Buffalo Speedway to see their boiled prices and take a look at their crawfish. Small, not dusted, but I can't imagine them putting enough crab boil in the pot either. It's being boiled right there in front of you by 2-3 Messicans. And no offense, but I don't ever want to eat at a place that has Messican cooks attempting to imitate Louisiana food. They need to stick to tortillas and beans.

Concert Pub on Richmond is pretty solid and pretty cheap. Best I've had within Houston.

I've had them at BB's Cafe and they were ok.

Most places are crap and just throw some seasoning on the outside.

Mozelle's on Heights blvd cooks them like back home. No dusting. But they were expensive and small last time I went. Hopefully they will be better in a few weeks.

My cousin said today that he gets some pretty good crawfish from HEB.
