Average is more like $45k out of college. Average is the key word here

This. Honestly average is probably even less than that.

Look, you flat out don't understand. The real world economy dictates what you are worth. Presently, kids with no real world/work experience are not worth much. You won't be when men, in your field, have 10 years experience and are fighting for the same job you are out of college. Welcome to depressed, lackluster growth America.

And this is an accountant. Do you really think that if an accountant makes this amount of money right of out college, that the average salary is 80K a year Pirate?

Yes, I did. I have no issue telling you I was wrong. I have not looked into starting salaries for careers in a long time. My question to you will be, is it impossible to come out of college and make 80-100k a year?

Yeah. If I had to guess, 38k would be closer to the average.

A 4 year degree? I don't know many jobs handing that kind of cash to a 22yr old.

It's not impossible. People who go to Harvard, come from well to do family, have petroleum/chemical engineering majors, or live in NYC make that kind of money graduating. But is is usual? No. Those are easily in the Top 5% of college graduates, if not even higher than that.

I didn't pay attention to the careers that start you out at 35k a year. So my perception on reality was a little skewed on what the average starting salary with a 4 year degree was.

It would probably be a good idea to gracefully bow out then and shut your trap.

That's all I wanted. A simple understanding that what I thought wasn't 100% impossible.

you didnt pay attention to anything because you went to college for 3 years(making a 3.95) and you had no idea what people make when they leave college. how does someone with a gpa like that and almost finished school not know what salaries are being paid when people graduate?

you still dont know this.

you have to be living in fantasyland thinking the average college grad is making 80k right out of college
