I think yahoo counted his 5-6 years in another league.
That would put him at around 11 seasons.

It says right on the page that he was inducted by the Old Timers Committee as a Pioneer/Executive in 1939.

Could be because he invented the curve or it could be because he was President of the International Association for Professional Base Ball Players.
