Ruined my morning

Good for him though. Had he stayed another year and worked on his free throws and outside shooting he would have been lottery or top 16 IMO
The cajundome would have been rocking again like in the orion green and Dwayne Mitchell days.

Just outta curiosity why did he end up at ULL? Was he just underrated coming outta HS or did he just really come into his own there?

He was very young. He was 17 years old for most of his Freshman season. He just turned 20 in February. Not many teams were in on him. I think we discovered him late and gave him an offer. We kind of lucked out getting him. He's a very entertaining player. I hope he makes it in the NBA.

Marlin is a very good coach at developing players. Shawn Long from his freshman to sophomore seasons, Bryant Mbamalu, Kasey Shepherd and Elfrid Payton especially.

JJ has the god given ability to just get buckets whenever he pleases.

Although, he was the first I guy I thought about when the NCAA voted to allow unlimited meals to athletes.

“This has been a long and engaging process for both me and my family. First, I would like thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to make a decision like this. I would also like to thank my family, coaches and the people close to me that have helped me gather information during this process.
“With that said, I am excited to announce that I will forgo my final year of eligibility at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and will be entering the 2014 NBA Draft. I sincerely want to say ‘thank you’ to my coaches, my teammates, and most importantly the great Ragin’ Cajun fans that have supported me during the last three seasons. This has been a great three years where I’ve grown up, both on and off the court. I will be Cajun forever. Thank you for everything.”

He was overlooked because of Jovon Felix , the point guard from St. Aug who is now playing for Texas .

On a positive note JJ "Buckets" Davenport will be back, deciding to wait one more year before joining the professional eating circuit
