Dang you're lucky. My oldest boy wasn't.
He cut it a little too close checking-in at the Alaska Airlines ticket counter. They couldn't accept his baggage and told him to gate check it.
My boy told the ticket agent that he had a big-arse K-Bar in his luggage to be checked. Ticket agent advised him to declare it to TSA when he got in line.
He followed instructions...got arrested on the spot.
But at least Houston Police accidently-on-purpose "forgot" mirandize him and also sabotaged the report to his benefit.
