When discussing the Bundy deal? What happened in Waco? I was 5 at the time and have never heard of it.

I would prefer cliffs if possible.

Super quick because I'm on my phone and was also too young:

The Feds tried to intervene to stop some cult by essentially laying siege to their compound.

The Fed's siege led to more deaths and such than the group ever committed on its own.

Janet Reno approves.

The Waco siege (also known as the Waco Massacre) was a siege of a compound belonging to the religious group Branch Davidians by American federal and Texas state law enforcement and military between February 28 and April 19, 1993.[4] The Branch Davidians, a sect that separated in 1955 from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, was led by David Koresh and lived at Mount Carmel Center ranch in the community of Elk, Texas,[5][6][7] nine miles (14 kilometers) east-northeast of Waco. The group was suspected of weapons violations and a search and arrest warrant was obtained by the U.S. federal agency Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

The incident began when the ATF attempted to raid the ranch. An intense gun battle erupted, resulting in the deaths of four agents and six Branch Davidians. Upon the ATF's failure to raid the compound, a siege was initiated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the standoff lasting 51 days. Eventually, the FBI launched an assault and initiated a tear gas attack in an attempt to force the Branch Davidians out. During the attack, a fire engulfed Mount Carmel Center and 76 men, women, and children,[8][9] including David Koresh, died.

Feds believed Koresh had illegal firearms and was sexually involved with minors. They failed to arrest him when they had opportunities, and their raids on the compound resulted in the deaths of many people. It came one year after the Ruby Ridge incident.

Seriously, going off memory(I was only 14), David Koresh claimed to be the second coming. He claimed that this go around he was supposed to sin... a lot. Supposedly had a stockpile of weapons. The gov said "what about the children?!?" and proceeded to burn it down and kill them all(or most, don't remember).

Watched this on tv in class in my Catholic high school during religion class. The teacher said, "see class, that is why you don't join cults."

The mindset of people was different back then too. They were much more trusting back then. If the Govt said The BD's were a dangerous cult a lot of people took that at face value. I actually got into a fistfight the day after with my boss and owner of the company that I was working for back then. He was a reserve deputy or some such and was saying they got what they deserved.

Waco was a totally different situation in some aspects. I think this is more similar to Ruby Ridge in some aspects.

The federal government is over-stepping its bounds.

Here's a nice video of a tank crashing into the compound and shooting fire from a flamethrower. The government did this to its own people.

Janet Reno was concerned about the children living inside the compound. So, she sent in some tanks to kill them.

Religious nut cult angered the Feds.

Feds trumped up some gun charges.

Cult resisted and refused to surrender.

Cult got dunked on by Feds. Pretty much all died in a fire. Source of fire disputed.
