They're working on it. Changing the ball is the next step. They'll give it three years and see if the game has balanced back.

They changed the bats in the name of safety. That by itself means they can never go back. The ironic thing about wood though is that it has a higher spring constant than the current metals meaning the ball comes off faster. But it's less forgiving because the sweet spot is small. My point is that wood is no more "safe" and It's still much more expensive.
