Well, it appears that the case is closed.

MM is one of Hollywood's most diverse actors.

Good to see you admit the error in your premise.

Of course that was his goal. And then claims ignorance when he receives a backlash.

Honestly...This might be the stupidest thing I've read today...And I was on the Rant for a few minutes...

It's obvious to me that you don't know shite about acting or what It takes to convey a role to an audience ....

So you want to blame him because you can't disassociate Rust Cohle from Wooderson?

Come on.

Not worth arguing if they can't see the difference in those 2 characters

Nope. I hate that movie. One of Tarantino's worst.

Don't really get all the hate you're getting. Sounds like people think you're talking about DDL here. McConaughey has grown on me and played some good roles lately, but your premise is spot on.

That MM is the same in every role? Premise is not spot on.

Explain. What do Jake Brigance, Rust Chole, and Wooderson have in common besides being portrayed by the same actor?

I knew what? That my opinion of MM's range should be as welcome as someone else's opinion of Costner in another thread?

Dude, calm your arse down. Not everything I post is a troll thread. In fact, I've steadily been decreasing my trollish behavior for over a year now.

I guess there's no redemption on is site. Once a troll always a troll regardless of efforts not to troll as often. I get that. It is what it is.

Yet, what I find most interesting is the people who constanty stalk people to call out as trolls flame the board the most often. According to this site, flaming (not trolling) is a bannable offense. So regardless what people think of this thread, I've done nothing wrong according to the site rules.

Simply put, this insignificant conflict boils down to one thing: The old guard "elite" doesn't like the new guard's presence on this board.

The same thing the guy in Contact, The guy in DBC, and the guy in Lincoln Lawyer have. Do people really see MM as some sort of chameleon? He's Matt Damon from Texas.

Yeah, but you can say the same about Pacino and De Niro.

MM is better than them, though.

I'd say MM is on par with them....certainly not better.

If anyone would simply read the OP you'd realize that I wasn't criticizing MM more than I was simply stating his limitations...which I believe that he's well aware of and embraces.

I like the guy, I like his movies, he deserved the academy award for Dallas Buyers (though I think he was better in Mud), and I'm excited for his future.

Not sure how that can be construed as trolling, but I'll play along with the hate since it's the "TD Way".

Your ability to turn a situation into a victimization of yourself as result of your own conduct is fricking unbelievable and I applaud you for it.

As I said before, if you want to engage in an intelligent conversation about how McConaughey is present in some of his roles, meaning that you are not so absorbed in his portrayal of a character that you don't think it's McConaughey playing a character, I have addressed that point.

You have not responded. I tried to turn this turd of a thread into something productive, but you have failed to take the reins.

This:
quote:

It is what it is. I never attacked anyone in ths thread.

Has nothing to do with being a troll. Attacking someone does not a troll thread make. On the other hand, baldly stating something that cuts against the grain of the majority of thought on this board and then backing it up with s and dismissals of retorts as "attacking" you and basically playing up this image of a small child being beaten to death with his own shoe seems pretty fricking trollish to me and the rest of the board.

And more than that, it's a goddamn joke. You say you want to engage in real conversation, but when people actually try to get you to address your points, you address the fact that you've been accused of trolling and you wallow in your own self-pity like a goddamn infant. If you want to engage in a serious conversation, do it. Stop claiming to not be a troll. Stop playing the victim card. Address your points, make an argument, and when another poster combats you over your points, don't claim you're being attacked.

As I said, if you want to be taken seriously, start taking your posts seriously. You acknowledge your prior trollish behavior and wonder why people immediately suspect anything you put on this board. Come on, guy.

Recently? I don't think there's any doubt. Pacino and DeNiro are shells of their former selves.
