If I had to guess, I'd say having an isolated BREC election didn't help BREC at all. Seems like the type of people who would make the special effort to go out and vote in an election like are more likely the voters that are fed up with taxation.

Usually when there's a school election, a BREC election, or a Library election it's held at a time when there is little or nothing on the ballot.

They do this because the people running those organizations know the turnout will be very low, and that their people and their relatives will go out and vote and most regular folks won't even know there is an election going on.

I think it has been proven time after time in EBR Parish that if you want a new tax or a tax renewed; the time to do it is when nothing is going on.

You do realize these people in power pick their election days. If BREC thought it was a bad day for them, they would not have chosen the day they did.
