quote:Ben Nevers is a conservative legislator, as anyone is who is elected from Washington Parish. He owns his own electrical contracting company and has been a conservative voice in the legislature for years, first as a representative and now as a senator.
big govt. forces like the Democrat party
A couple of years ago he won the award of "Outstanding Family Advocate" given by the Louisiana Family Forum which promotes traditional family values based on biblical principles.
Nevers is probably more conservative than any of the BR Republican legislators.
Take your D/R blinders off and actually learn about someone before you characterize them out of your ignorance.

FIFY
Sorry, when I see Kip Holden, and three Dems in the state legislature all lining up with bills to block the SG movement, I am very suspicious despite you comments about Mr. Nevers.
None of this is an accident, you should know that.
I did some quick checking, and I find it ironic that Nevers wants a constitutional amendment to increaser the minimum wage so La. citizens can vote on it, but he doesn't want SGeans to vote on incorporation.
quote:
“It’s a constitutional amendment, so that would allow the people of Louisiana to determine if they want to raise the minimum wage to $9.50,” Nevers said. “It does have exemptions for employers who have 50 or fewer employees and for students who are employed by school systems across the state. It also specifies that the tips waiters or waitresses receive can be used to meet the minimum wage.
Nevers was also opposed to Jindal passing on Medicaid expansion. He wants more Federal control over La. healthcare. I wouldn't define this character as a conservative. Maybe you would, but I wouldn't.
