Chris Young can outsing pretty much any of the old timers. Of the old timers, I'd say Conway. My favorite country voice is George Strait.

That's because he had a pretty terrible voice.

Anyone that doesn't include Don Williams and Keith Whitley in this conversation should be institutionalized.

Also, Vince Gill sounded pretty much perfect live the one time I saw him.

No votes for Keith Whitley or Randy Travis?

While I think George Jones wins this I still thought someone would mention them

Male - George Jones

Female - tossup between Patty Loveless, Patsy Cline and Emmylou Harris.

Nailed it! Female I would give the nod to Patsy Cline.

Even though George Jones and Patsy Cline are obvious choices they are the best for a reason.

Eddy Arnold and Jim Reeves were very smooth singers. Marty Robbins could basically sing in any style. Vince Gill is one of the few who can do it just as well live as in the studio.

I can't believe Whitley has only been mentioned twice. Pure insanity
