not sure how Louisiana treats attempt charges (LA law is so ridiculous), but assuming that it treats attempts as other states do - attempt penalties are the same as if you actually completed the underlying crime, the punishment for 2nd degree murder is:
B. Whoever commits the crime of second degree murder shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
