I played varsity baseball actually. I performed better on the road because I wanted them to lose more than I wanted to win. Something about wanting to see opposing fans disappointed really drove me. I expected a douchey comment, but that one was inaccurate and weak.

I'm sure some people are like that. It affects team sports the most obviously. Not everyone will have the same mentality, so the other half the team could be the opposite and feel uncomfortable in a different place

Also affects communication. Fans screaming while trying to call an audible, shoot a free throw, etc

It's pretty easy to see why
