When you're listening for entertainment, sure he's a laugh. But when you don't have video and he's all you got, I get frustrated more often than not.

I know he's tough to replace. Not many can call a sports game well. I think he's really good at basketball honestly. He just doesn't seem to enjoy baseball and Charlie having to correct him on any play or pitch that is, more often than not ,significant to the game.

But I still understand basic math. Like 2 strikes +1 more strike equals three.

You on the other hand aren't ready for retirement. Or second grade math either apparently.

Now I have to go and leave this debate. I need to go to momem's house in the paaaaris cuz she needs me to fix hu hose pipe on the outside zink. She got sum mynez stuck in it frum hu erster poboy. Blee dat.

you know LSU must have done good when someone starts a whole thread to complain about Hawthorne.

Yep I noticed same things. He's gotta be ready to hang it up. Can't understand why he insists on doing all three sports. Egomaniac if I had to guess...

People on here act like Hawthorne is Jesus and is immune from any criticism. Face it Hawthorne is getting past his prime and need to think about stepping down before he totally goes to crap. He has been the voice of LSU for a long time and I appreciate that but when it's time to step away, it's time to step away.

And then JH goes into great detail about why he thought what he said happened, even though it did not.

I would be great at calling games. Where does one apply for this?

And during that time, Charlie is trying his best to keep the audience updated on the play by play.

Getting? McMullen hit a frickin pop up over the left field wall a week ago according to Hawthorne.

Not only can the guy not see what's going on, but he ain't got a clue what it was that happened if he saw it because he lacks basic baseball knowledge.

Jim is evaluated each yr by LSU. If LSU comes to the conclusion that he's not doing a good enough job, they will make a change.

Rather than piss and moan bout the play by play guy every freaking yr, call Jim or LSU and express your displeasure with his job.

Watching the game on GeauxZone while listening to Jim call the games, it is so obvious he has no idea what he's watching. Sometimes I don't even thing he is paying attention to the game.

I think he tries way too often to predict what is going to happen right before it happens. Just call it as it happens.

Like the popup by mcmullen.

Another couple of favorites...
" hickey throws it away" sometimes that means a steal going the other way by the opposition and sometimes it means out of bounds

"Bregman pops it up..................foul and out of play" get to the point quicker

Completely agreed. He definitely predicts stuff and he is usually wrong. But even when he is right, it's annoying because his job is to describe the play as it happens.

LSU beats #1 Arizona in basketball. LSU students storm the court. Which means they had to jump over the scorer's table. The radio crew happened to be where they were all jumping over. Jim said on air that these idiots are going to trample him.

I was at that game but NOT as a student. I never knew about the "idiots" comments until now.

"Stevenson hits it deep to right field, thats gonna get out of here, at the wall, the right field jumped up and made a great play".

Why project in that situation?
