It is basically fact according to the Lorentz time dilation equation. Obviously in order to travel at light speed one must become light. I just don't see us getting there before we go extinct.

There's not much to say other than that it has been experimentally verified.

How, you ask? Take a bunch of atomic nuclei with a known half-life. Use a particle accelerator to speed them up to lightspeed minus a hair. See how long it takes for them to decay and get your new half-life at that speed. Compare and show Einstein was right.
