I'm completely torn after 6 pages of debate so I have decided to go with the every other one plan.

Release one eat one.

I will catch another the next time I put jugs out and he will be eaten.

No one said it wasnt legal to kill. The OP just said he respected the idea that the turtle might be pretty old so he let it live. I can agree with this mindset. There is no need to kill it. He didnt set the traps out for turtles. Why not just let it go?

If the turtle was harming something or was in an area that it shouldnt be, yes remove it.
