Unlike a lot of people I actually like Phil Shoen as far as personality but he really just talks out of his arse so much it's ridiculous. Often they're just are pretty questionable opinions but also he gets fairly simple facts totally wrong multiple times a match.
A perfect example is this morning's Cagliari - Roma match where Destro got a hat trick. Phil went on and on for half the match about Destro's "slow start" to the season "where he wasn't clinical enough" that's what is keeping him off pace for the league lead in goals.
I think that part of my experience is due to whom I hear him call. I don't watch Serie A all that often, so I usually only get to hear him call Barcelona. His analysis is usually factual there, mostly because he has a serious hard-on for Barcelona, though his opinions are usually terrible. Honestly, with this Gus Johnson experiment, my bar is set pretty low. "Well prepared" for me right now is doing at least some research, and that brings me to something else I hate about him, actually. I feel like he always has some stupid, banal fact that he has to force into the broadcast.

I tend to forgive Bodo since he says so much unintentionally funny stuff
Yeah, overall, I like him. It's just grating at times. Though, I usually can't hear crowd noises at the Bernabeu, outside of the 90 minutes of Jose Mourinho chants and counter-whistling on the final game of last season, so I guess that he's a replacement for the frequent booing that goes on.

I hate Gus so much. I have only been following since the last World Cup, and I am absolutely confident I can do a better job than he does.
Gus does not even cater to the new viewers who have no experience because he is just as clueless as them. Gus will probably ask why the offside rule exists as well as why don't they make the goals bigger so you can score more goals?
