She had a lot of reasons. She doesn't particularly like action movies that much. When she does, she likes them to have identifiable characters, emotion, heart, some kind of believable love story if possible, high stakes, etc.
She found the movie to be a total bore. She said the action scenes went on way too long and were just one after another. She never felt scared for the characters or gave a shite. No heart or emotion, no love interest. Never felt invested. Just boom boom boom over and over again.
I don't agree, although I do see some of her points.
FYI: My wife isn't even remotely a nerd, and is not into comic books or know the characters. But she liked the first Captain America...a lot more.
We probably should have gone to see Grand Budapest Hotel, because she likes Wes Anderson. I could have seen this with a friend or something.

Better late than never.
After the Avengers on repeated viewings I felt Cap didn't really do much so I felt that he almost didn't belong among the others but this movie made me believe that not only is he worthy but now that he is my favorite Avenger; move over Tony Stark.
I heard a lot about the hype/praise this movie was getting and after seeing it twice it is well deserved.
Most of all I was really surprised that the themes this movie touched on, especially for a early summer blockbuster, even more surprising for a "Disney-Marvel" movie. When Zola stated that when you try to take away people's freedom, they resist and fight. But if you make it to where they give up their freedoms willingly, there will be no "resistance". Something I fell is very timely and seeing that in this movie won me over even more.
I felt the action was top notch for a Marvel movie, it was even more visceral than most other action movies IMO. From The car chases to Fury getting sniped in Steve's apartment, this movie did not let up at all.
Also loved the score from Henry Jackman. The winter soldier theme almost reminded me of Han Zimmer's and James Newton Howard's theme for the joker in TDK.
